----------------

Dear Presidential Management Alumni,

Improving the Federal hiring process has been one of my top priorities since
I became Director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) more than 2
years ago. Beginning last fall, OPM initiated a series of recruitment fairs
that spanned the length of this country. These recruitment fairs provide
the venue for Federal agencies to showcase career opportunities and for
candidates to apply for current vacancies both locally and nationwide. To
date, more than 35,000 of America’s best and brightest have been introduced
to the exciting careers and noble calling of public service.

I would like to personally invite you to participate in our upcoming
“Working for America” recruitment fair in New York City on April 20, 2004.
As a <Current Presidential Management Fellow/Presidential Management Fellow
alumni>, you are one of our premier ambassadors of public service.

Participation in the New York City recruitment fair will provide you with
the opportunity to be a key member of a team of professionals dedicated to
the identification and selection of top talent for our Federal civil
service. At this critical time in our Nation’s history, I can think of no
better way to serve the country than by helping us attract dedicated people
like you to Federal service.

Please RSVP your attendance by April 7, 2004 to Kevin Mahoney, Deputy
Associate Director, Human Capital Leadership & Merit System Accountability
by e-mail at kevin.mahoney at opm.gov or by phone at (202) 606-2131. Once we
have confirmed your availability to attend this event, we will contact you
to schedule your participation in a training session prior to the fair.
During this training session, you will be informed of your role during the
fair and how you should prepare for this event. In addition, you will also
receive specialized training on the exciting changes happening within the
Presidential Management Fellows Program.

I look forward to seeing you in New York City.

						Sincerely,

						Kay Coles James
						Director
